NOSCA supports and sponsors events and professional development initiatives that focus on equity, leadership and transformation to promote college and career readiness for all K–12 students by enlisting the efforts of educators, parents, families, business and professional leaders, and policy makers. These events and initiatives increase the level of professional expertise of elementary, middle and high school counselors.

The College Board’s first annual survey was administered spring 2011, capturing the voices of more than 5,000 middle and high school counselors from across the nation.

Participants learn about the new, research-based, jointly developed toolkit designed to enhance principal-counselor team relationships to improve student achievement. They also learn how to use practical tools, assessments and activities to help principal-counselor teams align their goals and complement each other's work, resulting in a school climate of high expectations and student success.
The College Board Advocacy & Policy Center’s National Office for School Counselor Advocacy (NOSCA) discussed the findings of its recently released first annual National Survey of School Counselors in Austin, Texas. Over 120 attendees joined Representative Joaquin Castro and education champions from across the state to find out how counselors feel about their mission, their role and the support they receive from their schools and districts.
